 BOROUGH TO BOROUGH

Here is a sampling from the mix cd "Borough to Borough" that I made with my pal Alan in the fall of 2000. It started simply as a mix of some of our favorite tracks that were released that year that we planned to give away for holiday gifts, and it became something more than that. Alan is a grandmaster with Pro Tools, we both had some free time, so we worked on the mix over the course of four months, putting in roughly 120 hours of studio time. When it was all said and done, we packaged it and sold it, figuring it was better than something that you just give away.

REVIEW OF "BOROUGH TO BOROUGH"
From the June, 2001 issue of Hip Hop Connection. Rating: Four out of Five Headphones

"Here's a mix CD my friends did," says Steinski in a casual manner. "I think you might like it." Is he kidding or what? When we think of the dozens of wack-ass D90s we've inflicted on ourselves it's hard to believe this one slipped by. Fruity flute loops open the mix laced with dialogue samples and movie snippets. As each track blends into the next "Borough to Borough" turns into a roll call of today's most innovative deejays, emcees and producers--there's J-Zone, Quasimoto, The Nextmen, Dilated Peoples, Phil Tha Agony and J-Live here, and many more. The usual glut of independent nonsense is left behind to make a comp with no fast forward moments as Al and Ill throw everything plus two kitchen sinks into the mix. This is a truly undiscovered gem--let's not keep it this way!"
